IE 9 Frustration?
How can one become a billionaire with such a bad product while the entire professional development theme industry tends to throw his computer out the window during the debugging phase in Internet Explorer?
Some time ago I switched from PC to Apple and I love it. No trouble with crashing programs and everyone who has made the switch can confirm this.
Anyway, the subject is IE9 and I would like to share my experience of this week.
Monday, at the office, a new Acer Z3730 was delivered. This computer is only going to be used as a test machine for browsers like IE, SA, FF, OP and CR. The choice for this device was simple. It almost has the look & feel as a Mac and the price / quality balance is ok.
The machine is unpacked and the process of installing Windows begins. My God! Go drink coffee and read the newspaper, because it is unbearable to see.
When installing a PC, you definitely need a lot of patience. So, this time I kept the time during the process. From the start to the installation of Windows I spent 1 hour and 23 minutes. But, I was not there yet. No, far from! At this point the machine needs to be updated. I ask myself if a IE9 is being tested before it’s released because I immediately have 72 updates to cope with.
Hello?! After another 45 minutes…
Yes! IE9 has come along with the update and when I start my browser I immediately get errors and the message that the browser has a problem and that it’s looking for a solution. In my view this message is totally unnecessary because there never will be a solution. The browser is fixed and does absolutely nothing.
Conclusion: IE9 is pure frustration, but I do respect the fact that one can earn so much money with such a poor product.
